A Central Power & Electricity worker who was attempting to repair power lines when a passing tanker truck lost control and doused him with chemicals - at the same time that electricity from the power lines surged through him. The result - super powers which he immediately started using for good.

For about a year, Gold Lightning was actually living lightning and did not have a physical form. He has since been returned to his normal human body.
